Mireille Castanet is a child doctor specialized in endocrine diseases and coordinates this activity within the Department of Medical Pediatrics at the University Hospital of Rouen. As a lecturer, she also teaches at the medical faculty of the University of Rouen and is responsible for the pediatric branch of the CIC 1404.
She is particularly interested in rare diseases: she is responsible for the reference center for rare calcium and phosphorus diseases in Normandy and for several competence centers (Prader Willi, growth, gynecology of children, etc.) and coordinates the new platform of expertise in rare diseases in Normandy (PEMRN).
Her fundamental research is focused on the physiology of the development of endocrine glands, initially development of the thyroid gland and currently development of the adrenal gland in the unit 1239 of the University of Rouen. More recently, she is interested in the field of e-health in pediatrics and develops tools for children and adolescents suffering from obesity and for unscheduled care of children.
